Summary of Employment Restrictions for State Hiring and Occupational Licensing

In accordance with the Task Force on Inventorying Employment Restrictions Act, a summary of criminal history-based restrictions on state employment and occupational licensing has been compiled for all state agencies included in the Act. The information is based on agency reports submitted to the Task Force and supplemental research of Illinois statutes and administrative codes.

The summary is organized by six functional categories of agencies:

Education Agencies (7 agencies, boards and commissions):

Environment and Business Regulations Agencies (11 agencies, boards and commissions):

Government Services Agencies (19 agencies, boards and commissions):

Human Services Agencies (10 agencies, boards and commissions):

Public Safety Agencies (10 agencies, boards and commissions):

Please note that agencies that license or regulate more than one occupation will have multiple entries in the summary, one for each occupation. However, their internal hiring information remains the same in each of those entries.
