About ICJIA

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is a state agency charged with conducting criminal justice research, grant planning and administration, and information technology development. The Authority is headquartered at 300 W. Adams, Suite 200, in Chicago.

Internship tasks may include:

  • Developing data collection instruments and collecting data.
  • Analyzing data and writing a summary of results.
  • Summarizing criminal justice datasets.
  • Converting data to web-friendly formats.
  • Attending meetings on criminal justice issues.
Compensation

No salary is offered, but the internship is available for course credit.

Application deadlines
  • December 15th for Spring Internships
  • May 15th for Summer Internships
  • August 15th for Fall Internships
Required qualifications

Knowledge, skill, and experience equivalent to graduate level or senior-level undergraduate standing with courses in criminal justice, criminology, law, research methods, journalism, statistical analysis, program evaluation, public policy, or related areas.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel) and PowerPoint. SPSS experience a plus.
