Institutional Review Board

The Authority's Institutional Review Board reviews all ICJIA research proposals involving human subjects to ensure that they adhere to federal policy for the protection of human subjects. The Board is made up of a group of criminal justice professionals and community members.

All research involving human subjects must meet federal standards that include:

  • Informed consent. Participation should be voluntary and based on full disclosure.
  • Selection and recruitment methods that are free of coercion.
  • Minimal risk to subjects.
  • Subject privacy, which includes maintaining confidentiality of identifiable information.

Institutional Review Board meetings are open to the public.
